New Southern Hills Director To Oversee Surgical Services

Jan. 21, 2010 — Kevin Clark Allen, RN, MBA, CNOR, RNFA, has been named the new director of surgery at Southern Hills Medical Center. In this role, he will work collaboratively with physicians and medical professionals to ensure quality care for the hospital’s orthopaedic, gynecologic, vascular, urologic, podiatric, otolaryngologic, gastroenterologic, plastic and general surgery patients.

Allen has more than 18 years of surgical experience as a registered nurse first assistant, nurse educator, nurse manager, and perioperative consultant. During his hospital management career, he has worked on surgical suite projects that include operating room construction, and systems for instrument tracking and scheduling. Most recently, he served as director of central sterile processing logistics and perioperative informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where his team supported 55 operating rooms.

Allen received his bachelor’s degree in nursing from Belmont University and his master’s of business administration from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill. He is licensed as a Registered Nurse First Assistant, Certified Nurse Operating Room and Registered Nurse in Tennessee.
